Barbara Baker

Barbara Baker, 83, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away September 30, 2026, at Wheeling Hospital. Born March 11, 1943, she was the daughter of the late J.J. and Betty Yost.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Rev. Glen Baker Jr.; her parents, J.J. and Betty Yost; and her sister, Ethel Kloss.

She is survived by her children, Michael Fedczak (Peggy) and Sharon DeChiazza (Fred), both of Wheeling, and Colleen Baker of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren Michael Fedczak (Kendra), Lydia DeChiazza (Tanner), and McKenna DeChiazza; great-grandsons Michael, Matthew, and Miles; and numerous nieces and nephews who were also an important part of her life.

Barbara spent her life caring for others through her career as a dietary supervisor at area nursing homes, her involvement with the Lions Club, and her church family at Warwood United Methodist Church.

She was also the best pen pal, never missing a birthday, anniversary, or holiday—and you could always count on Barbara’s Christmas card arriving just after Thanksgiving. It was one of the many ways she made sure the people she loved knew they were remembered.

Barbara lived her faith through her actions and was truly an angel on Earth. Her family finds comfort knowing she has been welcomed home by her parents, her sister, and the love of her life, and that their guardian angel will continue watching over all those she loved.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 5, 2026 starting at 10am with a Memorial Service to follow at 11am at the Warwood United Methodist Church, 1438 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003.

Memories and condolences may be shared with Barbara’s family at www.altmeyerfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Warwood United Methodist Church or the Warwood Lions Club.

Barbara’s faith, dedication and smile will be remembered by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
