Christopher Michael “Mike” Young, a beloved father, son, fiancé, grandfather-to-be, and friend, passed away on September 19, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who loved him dearly.
Mike was a man who never met a stranger. He was a true social butterfly who could make friends with just about anyone he met. He loved talking with friends, playing games with his son, laughing, and simply enjoying the people around him. Even when life became difficult, Mike continued to find joy in the life he had been given and in the people he shared it with.
Mike loved the outdoors and anything country. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers, and spending time in the woods. Some of his favorite times were spent fishing and enjoying the outdoors with his son, Austin, and his father, Burley. He loved making jerky and eating it just as much. He also had a creative side and enjoyed making crafts, building planes, carving walking sticks, drawing, tinkering, and working with his hands.
More than anything, Mike loved his family. His son, Austin Michael Young, was his pride and joy, and the bond between them was incredibly special. Whether they were fishing, riding four-wheelers, spending time in the woods, or simply talking, Mike treasured the time he had with his son.
One of Mike’s greatest hopes in his final years was to become a grandfather. He spoke often about wanting to get healthy because all he wanted was the chance to meet and hold his grandbabies. Although Mike did not get to hold his grandchild here on Earth, we find comfort believing that he has now been reunited with the precious baby that Austin and Hannah lost. And perhaps one of the most beautiful thoughts is that Mike is now holding the grandbaby he longed so deeply to have and to hold
In recent years, Mike grew especially close to the Lord. His faith became an important part of his life, and he loved Jesus deeply. Even in his hardest days, his relationship with God became a source of comfort and hope. We find peace in knowing that Mike is now in the arms of his Savior, free from the pain and struggles of this life.
Mike is survived by his beloved son, Austin Michael Young; his daughter-in-law, Hannah Young; his father, Elmer “Burley” Young; his sister, Candice(Shane) Henderson; And his nieces Alexa and Lauren; his fiancé the love of his life, Gladys Lough; Gladys’s children, Heather (David), C.J., and Rebecca; and their children, whom Mike loved dearly and enjoyed having around. He also leaves behind his beloved grand dogs, Jeanie and June Bug, along with many friends and extended family members who will forever cherish his memory.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Jean Wood; his grandmother, Naomi (Young) Blake; and his grandfather, Samuel Blake.
Mike made an impact on everyone he met. He was kind, outgoing, hardworking, creative, and always willing to help someone who needed it. He leaves behind stories that will be told for years to come, memories that will never fade, and a love that will continue through the family he cherished so deeply.
Though our hearts are broken that we have to say goodbye, we hold tightly to the promise that this is not forever. Mike is home with Jesus, and loved ones who already made it there and one day, we will see him again.
Until we meet again, Dad. We love you more than words could ever say. ❤️🪽
