John Joseph Bumgardner, 72, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Liza’s Place.
He was born June 7, 1954 in Wheeling, son of the late Joe & Helen Works Bumgardner.
He cherished spending time outdoors, playing card games, and being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Bumgardner; brother, Gilbert “Pee Wee” Bumgardner; daughter, Tammy Jo Watts; granddaughter, Tabitha Pethtel; and life long partner, Wanda Clark.
John is survived by his children, John Joseph Jr (Erin) Bumgardner, Crystal (Lem) Pethtel, James Bumgardner, Bobbie Sue Nesbitt (Holly Dalton), Jackie Creighton (Tommy Williams), Jason Bumgardner, Jonica Ice, David Bumgardner; his siblings, Karen Bumgardner, Bertha “Sue” Reineke , Dickey (Joe) Letzelter, Charley (Michelle) Armstrong; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 12pm until the time of service at 2pm, at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling (304-242-2311). Interment to follow at Stone Church Cemetery.
