W Eric Pockl, 57, of Harrison City, PA passed away on October 29, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born to William and the late Helen Pockl (Hannig). He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 25 years, Kim.
Eric grew up in Elm Grove, attended St. Vincent’s grade school, and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Wheeling, WV. At 12 years old, he found his love of golf through Oglebay Park’s caddy program. He worked his way from caddy, to driving range worker, to golf course employee, and returned to lead the caddy program. His love of golf was furthered by playing varsity golf for Central. When the weather changed, he would spend time hunting with his father, brother, and others.
Eric was the General Manager of Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville, PA and an active member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. He rediscovered his love for skiing in his 50’s, traveling to resorts in the US and Canada. He also enjoyed spending time in the sun listening to Jimmy Buffet on Sanibel Island, FL. Above all, Eric loved bringing his family together. Hosting holiday gatherings and West Virginia football tailgates brought him great joy.
Surviving are his son, Tyler G (Darrian), who will remember time spent hunting Eric’s favorite spots and talking the latest college football stories, and his daughter, Kaely A (Adam), who will remember endless hours chatting and watching meteor showers together. He was the proud “Pappy” of grandson, Grant. Eric is also survived by his brother, Greg (Melissa), his nephews, TJ and Jason, his father, Bill, and many family and friends.
Family and friends will be received from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, November 4th and 9 am until the time of services at 11am on Thursday, November 5th at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV (304-232-2732).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh.
