Thomas Coffield, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 25, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on October 9, 1949, Tom was known for his quick wit, generous spirit, and welcoming nature.
Tom was the proud owner of Coffield & Sons Construction. His work was a testament to his commitment and passion for his craft.
In his personal life, Thomas found joy in the simple pleasures. He cherished time spent in his garage, a place where friends and family were always welcome. Known affectionately as “Turtle,” he had a knack for making others laugh with his jokes and light-hearted flirting. He was ever ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was mowing a neighbor’s lawn or clearing snowy driveways during the winter months.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Grace (Rogerson) Coffield; his beloved wife of 56 years, Vicki Coffield; and his son, Jeff Coffield. He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Debbie Mosa; his children, Tammy (Earl) Hercules and Chad (Amanda) Coffield; 15 grandchildren: Jeremy, Kayla, Breanna, Emma, Robbie, Zachary, Tyler, Austin, Jarrett, Macenzie, Allison, Alexzandria, Bryant, and Arianna; and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly as well as two siblings, Connie (Joe) Wright and Jake (Dawn) Coffield.
A service to honor Thomas’s life will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, McMechen-Benwood Chapel. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by a service at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Kenny Hardway.
Thomas “Turtle” Coffield will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
