Bernadine Virginia Rodriguez, 97, of Washington Lands, Moundsville, WV, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday January 3, 2026.
She was born on October 21, 1928, in Moundsville to the late Sanford and Dorothy Mercer. She graduated from Moundsville High School in 1946.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Henry Rodriguez and her brother Richard Mercer.
Bernadine was a lifelong member of Washington Lands United Methodist Church. She was active in Methodist Women, Washington Lands Garden Club, The Salvation Army and Lindsey Lane CEOS.
Bernadine is survived by her children, Jewel (Pete) Anderson of Moundsville, Larry (Susie) Rodriguez of Moundsville, and Ramona Rodriguez of Morgantown, WV. Four grandchildren, Dustin Rodriguez of Clarksburg, WV; Autumn (Chris) Ward of Glendale, WV; Shawn (Holly) Anderson of the Woodlands, TX; and Alexa Anderson White (Michael Short) of Cleveland, OH. Eight great grandchildren, Ryan and Kathleen Anderson of the Woodlands, TX; Zander, Eli and Milo Ward of Glen Dale; and Mackenzie, Zack and Ethan Short of Cleveland, OH. Nieces and nephews and their families, Rudy (Martha) Zatezalo of Glen Dale; Jack Hall of Columbus, OH; MaryAnn (Milton) Shaner of Moundsville; Martha Busto of Navarre, OH; Rusty (Terri) Mercer of Moundsville; and Melody Mercer of Moundsville.
Bernadine’s family would like to sincerely thank her homecare team for the excellent care and kindness she received from each one of you. You truly were her angels. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV 26041. There will be no graveside service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Washington Lands United Methodist Church or The Moundsville Salvation Army.
