Mary Jean Brown, 78, of Moundsville, WV, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Moundsville Health Care Center.
She was born in Johnstown, PA on January 26, 1947, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jean (Stager) Brown, Sr. Mary Jean retired from American Electric Power – Mitchell Plant after many years of dedicated service. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, her faith being a fundamental part of who she was. In her spare time Mary Jean loved to read and was considered a movie buff. She enjoyed visiting new places and traveling, but above everything she cherished the time she spent with her family.
Mary Jean is survived by four siblings, Peggy (Bill) Bach of Wheeling, WV, Joseph Edward (Debbie) Brown, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Mark (Debbie) Brown of Johnson City, TN and Audrey Ann (Tim) Burns of Terre Haute, IN; one nephew, Josh, seven nieces, Leslie, Ericka, Sara, Elizabeth, Julie, Lora and Jamie and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Though our hearts ache with her loss, they are equally full of gratitude for the years we were blessed to share. Her spirit lives on in the conversations we still hear in our minds, the songs and stories she loved and the countless moments of comfort and laughter she gave us.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 9:30 am until time of Mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
